people power
Did the 1986 EDSA Revolution really happen? Given the state of current affairs in the Philippines, those of us who marched during those historic times, are flabbergasted and disgusted all these years later.
What did we take to the streets for? Risking life and limb? Fighting so hard — for what? To elect another Marcos pawn as our current president? Where is that fabulous people power when we need it?
An inept government led by a bumbling bully is made even more glaringly wrong in these difficult times that challenge even the best of the best.
That said it is still no excuse and rather than behoove themselves to behave more decently, Duterte and his minions are shameless misogynists in their ignorant refusal to wake up to the country’s dire needs.
These terrible examples of patriarchy do what they want, when they want, how they want, and all others and expect us to support and promote their entitlements. It’s a sick world they live in, made more dangerous by their blind ignorance.
In the meantime, a nation is brought to its knees and pounded into the pavement while being insulted and ridiculed by the folks elected into office who definitely do not deserve nor do their jobs.
While the rest of the world rolls out their aggressive vaccination programs, the Philippines is still negotiating which vaccine to order. Sadly that can translate to which supplier can this corrupt government get the most kickback from.
Cruel and corrupt officials that we all curse with every breath drawn. This is the legacy the conjugal dictatorship of Imelda and Ferdinand Marcos has mired the Philippines and its people in.
Remember that always and especially this 35th Anniversary of our people power. The fight goes on.
