Kung Hei Fat Choy 2022! Happy Year of the Black Yang Water Tiger which runs from February 1 to 21 January 2023. Bringing to a close the previous Year of the White Yin Metal Ox.
The Lunar New Year always begins on the second new moon after the winter solstice. For 2022 this coincides with the Aquarius New Moon which occurs on 1 February 2022 at 12:46 a.m. EST.
Tiger year is quite the contrast after the plodding, nose-to-the-grindstone energy of the metal Ox of 2021 or the scurrying, frenzied metal Rat of 2020.
The New Moon in Aquarius marks the beginning of a new cycle. The Capricorn New Moon cycle ends and moves into Aquarius.
In the sign of Aquarius — friendship, brotherhood, group activities, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, humanitarian efforts, or joining a group — pull strongly on us.
New beginnings regarding any or all of these matters are made possible. Imbolc, Saint Brigid’s, or Candlemas starts on Groundhog Day or what old myths call Persephone — the awakening of Earth’s life force as light returns out of winter’s depths.
Tigers are quick to action so in 2022, be prepared for situations to change rapidly. Tempers flare, drama and excitement reign, and crazy dreams can become reality. This can apply to personal relationships, career developments, and, on a larger scale, political unrest or social revolution.
While there can be great boons that come out of a Tiger year for some zodiac signs to experience wonderful luck, others can just as easily get badly burned. There is no middle ground in the year of the Tiger.
Since 2022 is the year of the Water Tiger, it is a time of very strong, wild emotions. For some people, that is liberating, and they should take the risk. Sometimes, however, emotional extremes can mean chaos.
